Once the rack is locked into the receiver, the end of the cable with the loop is passed around the shank of the rack near the receiver. Then the end of the cable with the locking tip is passed through the loop, and the cable is pulled snug. We do indicate the cable diameter of Master Lock Cable Gun Lock # 99KADSPT as being 2mm, which I agree does sound rather small. So I went to our warehouse and measured this item with a digital caliper to get a confirmed cable diameter. The exterior diameter of the cable is 5mm. This includes the vinyl wrap on the cable.

The Swagman Anti-Rattle Hitch Lock and Cable for Bike Racks, part # S64030, includes a special washer that fits into one of the loops on the ends of the cable. This washer prevents that end of the cable from being slipped over the lock mechanism.

The lock cables of the Thule and Yakima bike racks would not be long enough to feed through all of the wheels of the bikes to lock them as well but I do have a solution for you.
You could use the Python Cable Lock part # 8419DPF as it is a 6 foot long locking cable that would work well to lock the wheels. You would need to run the cable through the wheels and frame of your bikes so that they would also be locked.

I called my contact at Swagman and they told me that the Twister bike carrier is no longer available and they do not have the cable locks or keys but we do have a solution that may work for you.
They told me the best way to use your carrier is to cut the cable you have on the bike rack and use a cable lock for the bike and a locking hitch pin.

I'm guessing you likely have the Thule Expressway, as that is the only Thule hitch-mounted bike rack from that time period which had a cable lock. The replacement cable lock has long been discontinued for that rack, so while you can still add a locking cable for your bikes it wouldn't be one that mounts in the rack.
What you can do is add a different cable lock and just use that for security for your bikes, and you can choose whichever one has the right length for your needs.

There are two locking options. The first is to loop the cable through a secure area on the item you are securing and then attach the end of the cable back to the locking lug on the ToyLok.
